Three Tips for Making the Perfect Italian Meatballs

When Nadia Larysa is not attending theatrical productions or San Diego Padres games, she enjoys creating traditional Italian meals for her family and friends. Nadia Larysa is especially fond of making pizza, pasta, and meatballs at home.

Few treats are tastier than homemade Italian meatballs, but getting them just right can be tricky. Consider the following tips the next time you make meatballs.

1. Choose meat with plenty of fat. Fatty cuts of beef, lamb, and pork make the most tender meatballs. Blends of these meats will be more flavorful than meatballs made from just one type.

2. Keep ingredients cold. As soon as the fats in meat start to warm up, they began to break down. If all the ingredients are chilled, the meatballs will stay together better.

3. Use a gentle touch when forming meatballs. If meatballs are packed too tight, they will be tough. If they are not packed well enough, they may fall apart. For best results, work gently and quickly using your hands.
